autism spectrum
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that can impact on a person's ability to effectively communicate with others and can involve restricted and repetitive behaviours. If you are concerned about the developmental progress of your child, or have noticed significant changes in their development and behaviour, an assessment may be beneficial. It is important to have a multidiscplinary approach. This means gaining expert assessment from a paediatrician/doctor, a psychologist, a speech therapist and/or an occupational therapist. All children grow and develop differently so it is important to gain the whole picture. The role of a psychologist is to assess, and if necessary, help with behaviour, mood, emotions and social interactions.
